This website is meant to outline a number of tech concepts to make teaching music even more fun that it already is!
Hardware/Things to be purchased:
- A microphone system, such as mine, from Front Row. I realize these are not cheap...but they are fantastic. Your voice will never be overused again! You will be able to use a normal speaking voice in your largest classrooms, and all students will be able to hear. http://gofrontrow.com/en
- A projector and sound system. Music teachers need this too. You will be able to project the plans for the day, show demonstrations of the pieces you are learning, play things for students such as music demos, etc...show a youtube of a 7th grade band playing what you plan to play - - the sky is the limit. Personally, I think every teacher should have a computer, projector and sound system for classroom use.
- Obviously - - a laptop of some sort. I have used both platforms. They both work. Use what your school supports.
- Ah, the cell phone - - I will tell you about my wonderful and oh-so-cheap option...do with it what you like
- At the least - all teachers should have their own classroom digital camera
Software/Websites (these are not free)
- Music Ace 1 and 2 - we still use this, and it is great for teaching basic concepts of music. Engaging, easy to use...kids love it. http://www.harmonicvision.com/mafact.htm
- Brainpop - I will show this to you. Your school needs to subscribe to this in order to use it. http://www.brainpop.com/
- Enchanted Learning - schools subscribe to this - - Yours might already have a subscription. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/music/
- Finale or some sort of notation software www.finale.com
- Smart Music - take a look and see if it could work for you - for vocal OR instrumental programs www.smartmusic.com
